Maurice Preidel, M. Sc.

Maurice Preidel completed his Master's degree in Computational Engineering Sciences in December 2015.  Already during his studies he gained practical experience through several years of working student activities in the automotive and aviation sector. Since January 2016 he has been researching in the field of applied information technology in the product development process at the Department of Industrial Information Technology at the TU Berlin. His data science research focuses on the linking of semantic (domain knowledge, situational context) and statistical data (product usage data, measurement series). He uses semantic technologies as well as methods of artificial intelligence, especially machine learning. Maurice Preidel is responsible for the operational side of the course "Introduction to Information Technology for Engineers". Since October 2017 he leads an expert group on Smart Service Engineering in cooperation with the Fraunhofer IPK. Since October 2018 he is Deputy Principal Engineer of the Industrial Information Technology Department.

Research topics:

  • Semantic data analysis in the product development process (Big and Smart Data Analytics)
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
  • Artificial intelligence, in particular machine learning
  • Semantic web
  • Python (pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy)

Current projects:

  • V-Lab – Future Engineering Lab
